DIY Gold Painted Bamboo Table – Decor Ideas And Guide!

As you know, Recently i’ve been into DIY, decorating and more especially painting vintage furniture. This time i am trying a new idea : DIY Gold  Painted Bamboo Table !

Funny story about this bamboo table…I spotted it at one of my regular thrift store haunts on a Friday, the day before half-off-furniture Saturday.  It was a little beat up, and I knew I’d have to paint it, so I decided to take my chances and wait to get it half-off.   My “vintage paranoia” got the best of me the next morning, and I was for sure the ladies in line with me were there for the same table.  No elbows were thrown, but I might have cast a few questionable glances and split my yoga pants in my rush to the cashier.
It took me a while to get to this project, ( a few months actually, but who’s counting?) But look at the amazing result!  In the end it only took a little sanding, a coat of spray primer, and the Montana Gold spray paint I bought on amazon a few weeks ago.  The color I used is called Goldchrome ( but you can use any metallic  paint color)  and it went on like a dream.
I got this close up of the legs so you could see how smooth and shiny it is in person.  I’ve realized, now that the table is getting every day toddler beatings, that it needs a protective clear coat to keep it shiny and help protect from chips and dings.

And what better way to show off my new table than with the hotness of some Furbish Studio pillows? Remember these?  I won them in last month’s giveaway, and they’re every bit as rad as I knew they’d be.

I did realize though, that when a buttload of Furbish pillows arrives at your doorstep, (for free!) you have a moral obligation to make them look their best, so I went straight to “how to style a sofa” articles  for inspiration on how to style them.  I think my Kantha throw and Nate Berkus rug make them look like the perfect little pillows they are.  But I’m biased.

I couldn’t leave out the last pillow of the bunch, so it’s residing on my entry bench for the time being. I’m still deciding on a fabric to re-cover the bench, so for now I have one of my favorite scarves on top to add some color.  I’m pretty sure I won’t be making it to that project any time soon, just so you know. 😉 I’m also almost positive that I’ve officially reached my quota of faux bamboo. Will that stop me? Probably not.

Would any of you like a tutorial on spray painting furniture?  I know there are so many of them out there, so I decided I’d just leave you with the pretty after shots instead.  If you’d like a spray paint table tutorial in the future, let me know.  I can always find something to spray paint y’all!

(Look closely and you’ll see my husband’s triathlon bike in the background.
It’s parked in the middle of my dining room/entry.  Niiiice.)

And the sources for my entry:

Bench- My bestie Lauren gave this to me after it didn’t sell in her garage sale.  Thanks LL! 🙂  I have big plans to re-cover it, but I’m liking it right now with my pink scarf draped on top.

Bamboo mirror- Estate sale find.  25 bucks y’all!

White frame- Wal-mart!!! Yep, they have inexpensive, simple white frames that look great anywhere.  Target also has a great selection of white frames too.

Print in white frame– from this Matisse book i found on Amazon : Matisse by Essers, Volkmar (2000)

Round frame- Homegoods

Sconce- Thrift store find

Brass lamp- Estate Sale find

Rug- From my best kept secret (not anymore!) Ecarpet Gallery.  They have great prices, but you have to be patient and do some digging to find what you want.

Baskets- Hobby Lobby

Pillows- Furbish Studio, Ikea, and Etsy

Wall Color– Behr, Wheat Bread

And that’s it! Hopefully I answered all your questions , but if not and you would like to know  more about how to spray paint a table, shoot me an email and I’ll try to get it answered in a (somewhat) timely fashion. 🙂 Have a great weekend everyone!
