How to Make Your Bedroom Cozier

You work hard every single day so you deserve a bedroom that will make you feel relaxed at the end of the day. The problem is, when you’re too busy making a living or studying or chasing your dream, you often have very little time to spend making your bedroom conducive for rest, relaxation, and a good night’s sleep. Lucky for you, we have some really easy tips that you can follow to make your bedroom cozier.

  1. Choose warm lighting – a cool white light is great for illuminating your room, but it’s not very eye-friendly if you’re trying to get some shut eye. Add warm lighting options to your room that you can switch to at night. Lamps or dimmable lights are great for this. If you have the budget to splurge, a mini fireplace would be even nicer.
  2. Invest in high quality plush bedding – ever wonder why you always sleep better in hotels? One of the biggest reasons is because hotel bedding is so much softer and more plus compared to your regular bedding at home. If you want that don’t-want-to-get-out-of-bed feeling in your own bedroom, invest in high quality plus bedding.
  3. Double down on your rugs – layering your rugs in the bedroom won’t only make your space look cozier but it will help make it feel warmer as well. Combine a plain rug with a printed one or double up on printed rugs if you want something bold and daring. Playing with texture on your rugs can help create a more sophisticated look as well.
  4. Set the mood – “me time” is important, but that doesn’t mean you have to blow up your wallet every weekend to go the spa or treat yourself to a nice staycation. Set the mood with candles or a therapeutic lamp in your bedroom and enjoy me time without spending a lot. Adding aromatherapy makes your room even cozier.
  5. Get fluffy pillows – deflated pillows do nothing for you or your bedroom so get rid of them! High quality fluffy pillows may be pricier, but they’re definitely worth it when you experience your first night without neck pain.
  6. Create a darker color scheme – Your room’s vibe will depend on its color scheme. A lighter color scheme will give you a nice, illuminated room but if you want it cozy and snug, a darker theme would be better. Unless you have really big windows where natural light could come through, try not to overdo it, lest you run the risk of your room looking too goth.
  7. Don’t forget to decorate – adding your personal touch through decorations is also a great way to make your room look and feel cozier. Plants can give a dark room a refreshing vibe so if you’re going with tip #6, be sure to add a bit of greenery as well.
