Dining Room Table Designs: The Perfect DIY Macrame Décor  :

Would you like to have homemade decors in your house? This is the luckiest day of your life because I will try to give you some tips on how you can do this by having a macrame project. In this article, we will focus on making a table runner that you can use to decorate your very own dining table in the future.

Before going any further, here are some of the materials that you will need:

  • A thick yarn of any color of your choosing
  • A pair of scissors
  • Wooden beads
  • A thin strip of tape. This will help connect the yarn through the beads without difficulty.

Basic Steps

Now that you have an ad as to what the materials you will need should be, you can now proceed to making the table runner itself. Here are some of the steps as follows:

First of all, you have the measure your dining table. After this, you can cut 12 strips of yarn, which should be a couple of feet longer than your table. In addition to this, you also have to decide on the basic position of your runner. Do you want it to hang on the sides are just lay on top of the table itself? Whenever you decide, I am sure it will turn out great.

Next, you should gather all the strings into a bundle and tie it on one end. This will help you create a cleaner end product for sure.

The third step includes pairing off the strands into twos and tying these into knots measuring an inch or two down from the initial knots. You can use any kind of knot that you like. This would be the perfect opportunity for you to experiment.

You should continue the process until you have created your table runner in the desired length. It can be either long or short depending on what you would want and how your table is measured. This picture below shows you how the finished product may look like.

After this, you have to make sure that the end part of the runner will be able to run free. To do this, you have to untie the big knot that you have created earlier. Because of this, you will be able to add beads which will be part of the final piece of the whole design.

Lastly, you can stick the beads through the ends of the yarn for decorative design purposes. If your yarn is thicker use the thin strips of tape to help push through. You can place the beads along with the knots alternately, just like in this picture.

Now, you can display the finished product on your table or on the sides of your table without difficulty.
