DIY: Make Your Very Own Loofah Soap in a Few Simple Steps

Materials Needed

  • Microwave and microwave safe containers, preferably made of glass.
  • Knives for cutting and stirring. Sharp knives for the former and butter knives for the latter.
  • Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol
  • Soap mold (preferably square shaped)
  • Disposable pipettes
  • Soap base {ultra clear, melt and pour)
  • Mittens and Mistletoe fragrance oil
  • Soap colorants (gel based)

The Procedure

As soon as you get these materials, you can now proceed to making your very own loofah soap. Here are some of the steps that you should follow:

  • You should cut of least 12 ounces of the soap base into small cubes using a sharp knife. After this, you can now put them in a microwave safe container for them to be slowly melted in 15 second increments. Next, you can put in a few drops of the soap colorant of your choice and use a butter knife to stir. (2 to 3 drops)
  • Using a small pipette, add 2 ml. of the fragrance oil into the container and stir slowly.
  • After this, you may spray the loofah with alcohol to get rid of the bubbles and place it on to the melted mold.
  • Spray the loofah cavity one more time and pour the rest of the mold into the container.
  • Repeat the earlier steps using a different colorant. Continue repeating the steps to create a new loofah soap with a different color.
  • After this, you should let the solution dry for about 3 to 4 hours.
  • Lastly, gently press under the solidified soap solution to release it. If this is not work, you should put it in a freezer for about 5 minutes.
