DIY Ruffled Fabric Headboard Tutorial

There’s a new and very cozy on a budget trend for bedroom décor, and these are curtain headboards . Such a headboard is comfortable, very soft, it’s pleasant to touch and  lean on, and you can easily make one to match your bedroom – it can be made of any fabric , curtain and even a rug  .The good thing is even if your bed doesn’t have a  wooden headboard, you will get a trendy one. There are various designs , sizes and fabric  textures you can try, take a look my  mom’s idea below!

For a while there, you might have thought that my post today is about our master bath. Gotcha there 🙂 Actually, it’s about my mother’s ruffled headboard, the inspiration of which is this from Country Living Magazine:

Here’s how she did it:

She cut 6 pieces of 7-inch strips to make up for the ruffles part then stitched the bottom edge with scallop design.

She then marked into the backing where each strip should be sewn. (Psst..we snuck in taking this picture around 6 a.m. while Princess Two was still asleep.)

Here’s a close-up of the stitches at the bottom of each ruffle.

And another. Now let’s move on to the overall look, shall we?

The ruffled headboard looks so feminine and sexy and adds that much needed softness in her bedroom. On your right, you’ll see the $10 garage sale dresser she turned from drab to fab. On your left is her $4.49 Goodwill junk that we initially planned to be her TV console but ended up being her nightstand.

I really like looking at it in this angle because it really radiates a girly-girly look.

This project looks so lovable and cuddly that I’m planning to recreate it in another bedroom.

Here’s a breakdown of our expenses:
Fabric at $2.79 a yard x 5 = $13.95
Curtain rod on sale at $15.19
Total is $29.14

So for only $29.14, we have a unique and lovely headboard that gives a dramatic impact on my mother’s bedroom wall.
